SATURDAY SPECIAL
- The story of Finn Thorsager

Slightly blurry, but quite the historic photo of Finn Thorsager at Manston during the Dieppe raid in August of 1942. The Norwegians led by Wing Co David Scott-Maldon had been in the thick of it since June and already suffered losses. They were then thrown into the rather ill-fated Dieppe raid. However, their brave and positive efforts had been noticed by the top brass.

I’m proud to say Scotty was a friend and neighbour of mine in later life. A very fine man indeed. He never forgot his time leading the Norwegian wing.

Respect.

SATURDAY SPECIAL
- The story of Finn Thorsager

On readiness, Catterick 1942. Not much happened in terms of meeting the Luftwaffe while 332 Squadron was based at Catterick, but there were indeed a few incidents. Finn was not part of any of the engagements however. This would soon change as 332 would soon join 331 Squadron at North Weald.

The war did not stop during winter months . . . but our brave Norwegian fighters took it in their stride.

Respect.

After a short spell with 331 Squadron based at Skeabrea, Finn joined the newly formed 332 Squadron at Catterick in early 1942. Here's Spitfire Va R7335 "AH-J" which Finn flew a great deal during the spring of 1942.
