Some people said he spoke strange English, but Arne Austeen certainly knew how to fight. He flew as Duncan Wilfrid Smiths nr 2 in 64 Squadron, being flight leader in 611 Squadron and Squadron leader for both 331 and 126 Squadron. He mastered the Spitfire V, IX and the P-51 Mustang, but as you can see here, also early gliders. This one taken at lake Mjøsa, Norway, before the outbreak of war.
